We’re coming at you faster than a hedgehog this week!  Nintendo had their investor meeting and shared that the Switch has sold almost 15 million units worldwide in a little over 10 months, making it the highest selling console of all time!  The Nintendo Online service will officially launch in September and sounds like it may involve a Game Pass like service.  In other news, Rockstar drops the bomb and announces Red Dead Redemption 2 will be releasing in October.  Kaz Hirai follows after his parody twitter account and announces he’ll be stepping down this year.

It’s our post-Superbowl episode and there’s a lot to digest along with those wings. We look at all the big commercials and trailers from the “Big Game” including Solo, Jurassic World 2, Avengers Infinity War, and Cloverfield’s Netflix surprise. Also, Jumanji will get another sequel, Mario will get a movie, and Black Panther gets good reviews. Finally, we try to digest the news that there may be another Star Wars trilogy made by the Game of Thrones showrunners.

It’s a new week and that means new news! Capcom announces it shipped 5 million copies of Monster Hunter World, making it the highest selling game in the series. Rocksteady teases a new game with motion capture actors while Spider-Man is rumored to launch this fall. Bioware’s fourth Dragon Age game is confirmed to be in the works, while EA announces today that Anthem is delay into Q1 of 2019. Lastly, we go over some SuperData numbers for the gaming industry in 2017.

December 2017 NPD results are in and the number one selling system might surprise you!  We dig into those numbers briefly and talk about the performance of a couple games.  Nintendo had a video presentation on Nintendo Labo, their new do-it-yourself cardboard toy that interacts with the Nintendo Switch.  Meanwhile, rumors of a new Fable game being made by the Forza team sparks up a conversation about Microsoft’s history, before finally discussing their plans to have their first party games being available on the Game Pass service from day one.

Netflix dominates the news on this week’s Moviecast. Bright is declared a hit by Netflix despite its critical reception. Meanwhile, Netflix also announced that Castlevania season 2 will premiere this summer, but with a little something more for its fans. Stranger Things season 3 may not be coming out soon, but a producer did have some interesting things to say about the villain for that season and how they’ll treat poor Will Byers. Also, Duke Nukem is...JOHN CENA?!

Who else loves the smell of a fresh Nintendo Direct?  The first one of 2018 was a mini-one, according to Nintendo anyway, but it still wound up having a lot of unexpected titles!  We get a port of The World Ends With You, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, and Dark Souls Remastered, among new announcements for Mario Tennis Aces and Kirby Star Allies.  An Insomniac developer on ResetERA definitely states that Spider-Man is definitely coming out in 2018.  Lastly, Square-Enix announced FFXV Royal Edition, which comes with all the Season Pass DLC plus new things like a FPS mode and more cars.

2018 starts to heat up as we look ahead in this week’s Moviecast. We ask the hard questions: How much will Black Panther make? When did New Mutants get delayed until?
