This past week, Embracer Group sells off Gearbox Entertainment for 460 million dollars to Take-Two Interactive, a rumor for a new Playstation Showcase coming in May with some new unannounced games, and Marvel and Netease show off the rumored Overwatch-like competitive game with Marvel Rivals. Lastly, ex-Bioware veteran Mike Laidlaw and Yellow Brick studio unveil Eternal Strands, a new game inspired by Shadow of the Colossus, Monster Hunter, and Zelda.

Sony lays off 900 developers across Playstation studios this week citing reorganization and a need to shift their focus and strategy moving forward, signaling more doom and gloom for the industry in 2024. Nintendo held their Partner Direct and showed off some new titles, including plenty of Microsoft games coming to the system and Rare titles hitting Nintendo Switch Online. Lastly, The Pokemon Company Celebrates Pokemon Day by announcing the TCG Pocket app and Pokemon Legends Z-A, launching next year.
